Miles Davis – the cool jazz sound (1959)

Get your week started with Miles Davis in 1959. Now I’m posting Miles. I swear!. This ol’ country boy from a land once called Tanase is playing Miles Davis. It’s  Marian McPartland’s fault. I had only a nodding respect for jazz until she came along in my late blooming little life. Now fresh out of the field the farmer boy here is loving jazz.

This particular jam is like Copeland with swing, very modern and almost jazz classical. I find this intellectually stimulating. With jazz I feel like I’m thinking the music, following a thought process, the artist is telling me a story, almost a conversation. It’s like one is talking and the others are nodding and agreeing and then they say something. That’s it, a joyous conversation among friends,  jazz.
