TORQUE

A standing wheel is free.
It responds equally
To impulse at its rim
Or at its center.
But a force applied
To its axis makes the wheel revolve, say,
Like a clock.
Whereas, to the rim, the spin
Is in the opposite direction.
Thereby, an individual
Coerced to move by central forces
May, in response, reverse
When the push originates
In tangent osculation.
