A GRAIN OF SAND
I am like a single grain
of sand in a desert --blown about by winds
onto several pathways --effecting people's lives
in miniature proportions --
threatening to blind
when angered --or serving as a soft warm
bed on a sunny beach --the wind is my friend
the sun fires my soul --I am time's worse enemy
when I am used to measure it --I am golden like a star
without a shine --this grain does not feel pain
to think, all that worldly pain --is buried beneath this grain
of sand in the desert.
