Destiny Poem by Tony Nesca

AFTERNOON IN PEG ZERO DODGE CITY

“i’m tired of this”, says destiny
i take the joint
put it to my lips
she got long legs
long chin
eyes like the devil
eyes beautiful in love
she crosses her legs
asks me,
“how ’bout you, how are things?”
she got dark native skin
exotic smooth in love
bare legs drive me wild
mad and insane
fingernails red as fire
grandmother up north
on dry reserve crime
and desperation on every corner
we laugh like it’s that easy
stoned and immaculate
it’s grace and suave luck
it’s synchronicity on wheels
god on the corner barstool
i lift a beer,
she crosses her legs
one big thigh over the other
i look up her skirt,
she caresses my face,
we talk
calmly
determined
smiling
a touch of sadness in the air…..
